Kill Your bill

We are here to change your mind

Every year you delay your solar decision, means another year in which you miss out on the financial benefits of a solar system. This is your solar opportunity cost.

Questions & Answers

Solar power  is energy from our sun in the form of heat and light. Not only does it support life on earth as we know it, it also drives the planet’s climate and produces renewable energy.

A solar panel works by allowing photons, which are particles of light, to knock electrons free from atoms, generating a flow of electricity. Solar panels actually comprise many, smaller units called photovoltaic cells. All these cells linked together make up a solar panel.

At 40 US cents per watt, 5kW of panels should cost around $AUS2,500. However, a good quality 5kW system in Australia will cost between $5,000 – $8,000 due to differences in quality and the fact that panels only make up a partial amount of the total cost of your solar PV system.

Additional costs will include:

1. Mounting System
The mounting system physically unites the solar panels to your roof. Being a crucial part of a solar array, your mounting system will be subjected to major environmental forces such as hail and wind over the next 25 years.

2. Balance of System
The total cost of installing a solar PV system also includes electrical elements like wires, cables, isolators, breakers, switches, and of course an inverter.
An inverter converts the direct current electricity your panels generate, into the alternating current electricity the appliances in your home use.

3. Installation
It’s a condition of most panel warranties that your panels are installed by a qualified electrician.
Paying for a qualified electrician will guarantee that your system performs safely for years to come.

As the cost of grid electricity goes up and up, and the coal power stations close one after another, solar power is becoming cheaper and yet more valuable at the same time.

Using the electricity you’ve generated via your solar system means that you’ll draw less electricity from the grid, which is mostly produced at coal power stations.
Installing a solar PV system is the single most effective step you can take towards reducing CO2 emissions.

Do you want to see How solar energy works?

First step

Your solar panels convert sunlight to DC electricity.

Second step

Your inverter converts DC electricity to AC.

third step

Electricity is used to power your home.

Fourth step

Extra electricity is sent to the utility grid for a credit, or to your battery if you own one.
